COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT OF SAFE SLEEP SPONSORSHIP FROM HEALTHY BLUE
JuneteenthKC in partnership with Healthy Blue Missouri will now be offering safe sleep training, cribs and crib resources for families residing in: Cass, Clay, Platte, Jackson, Wyandotte & Johnson County.
JuneteenthKC is honored to establish this community partnership to take action to prevent infant death and safe sleep accidents within our communities.
Are you a new/expecting family interested in receiving Safe Sleep education to reduce the risk of sleep-related accidents or death in the home?
JuneteenthKC is excited to work with Healthy Blue Missouri, Home State Health, and Children's Mercy Hospital to provide safe sleep education for parents/guardians interested in learning how to reduce the risk of sleep-related accidents or infant deaths.

JuneteenthKC in partnership with Children’s Mercy-Kansas City’s Division of Child Adversity and Resilience (DCAR) beginning July 15th will be managing & implementing their safe infant sleep initiative “Safe Sleep Safe Babies” within the Greater Kansas City are and neighboring communities!
JuneteenthKC is honored to be selected to join Children’s Mercy in their efforts to prevent sleep-related infant deaths, expand knowledge and practice of safe infant sleep, and increase family access to safe sleep materials throughout Jackson, Platte, Clay, Cass, Wyandotte, and Johnson County.
JuneteenthKC will be supporting this effort by:
designating staff that will be trained in safe infant sleep practices
disseminating safe sleep education to families served and actively demonstrating the use of safe sleep materials (including pack n plays) within the household
JuneteenthKC is excited to continue to provide valuable education and resources for families that can empower them with tools to keep their babies healthy and safe while sleeping.This public health approach to addressing safe sleep also aligns with JuneteenthKC's organizational goals of ensuring families and children in underserved communities have equal access to the safety and well-being resources that they need.
We are confident that working together on this community-focused safe sleep initiative will continue to strengthen the system of preventative care for children and families.

Free Crib Eligibility Requirements
**Must reside in: Jackson, Johnson, Platte, Cass, Wynadotte,
or Clay County
**Participant receives Medicaid (or is eligible)
**Participant receives WIC/TANF (or is eligible)
**Has a child 12 months or younger that parent provides a sleeping environment at least 50% of the week
**Pre-natal participants must be at least 7 months pregnant or 60 days from the anticipated delivery date
**Parents must participate in an hour-long safe sleep virtual training hosted by JuneteenthKC
**Participant must complete a Pre & Post Safe Sleep assessment

JuneteenthKC is excited to partner with Royale Cohesive Network to continue to provide hands-on learning experiences for children & families interested in community healthy lifestyle activities. The Royale Garden will feature customized gardening activities that promote positive social interactions in addition to developing ways to introduce fresh fruits and vegetables to family meal plans.
